Indianapolis (AP) – All players on Team Clark and Team Collier Warmed on for Saturday evening Wnba All-Star Game In shirts with the text: “Pay us what you owe us.”
Under the text was a logo for the WNBPA, the Players’ Union, who announced during the game on social media that the shirts are now for sale.
The shirts come after the players and the competition have not reached a new collective negotiating agreement A personal meeting Thursday. The players of the competition opted for their last SMEs in October and are looking for a better model for sharing income, increased salaries, improved benefits and a softer salary limit.
“I am just so inspired by the amount of players that appeared, the engagement that was there,” said WNBPA president Nneka Ogwumike. “That is really what it’s all about. Because the more that happens, the more that we can get things done. I think we can use this conversation today to roll the ball on things.”
After the failed negotiations, many players said there was a great discrepancy between what they wanted and what the competition offered. If a new SMEs are not reached in October, some players, including All-Stars Napheeesa Collier and Angel Reese, have mentioned the potential of a strike.
