The home state of Hollywood A-Listers such as Meryl Streep, Jack Nicholson and Michael B. Jordan, New Jersey, remains faithful to his roots littered with stars and has become one of the most sought after film destinations in the country in recent years.
Adam Sandler, Timothée Chalamet, Lady Gaga and Joaquin Phoenix have all embraced the Garden State as a film hub, since Gov. Phil Murphy signed the film and digital media tax credit in 2018. In 2023, 547 projects were filmed in New Jersey, compared to $ 67 million in 2017, according to Variety.

Netflix breaks the ground at $ 1 billion New Jersey Studio while Trump drives that films are being made in America
“Film and TV started in New Jersey, far back in the day under Thomas Edison, in Fort Lee, New Jersey. We were Hollywood before there was a Hollywood,” Sullivan said. “We bring ourselves back to the top of the peloton with large investments, because we see a huge economic opportunity here. It is nice to run celebrities with making films, but it is really impactful for small companies, construction workers and sellers who support the industry,” said Sullivan.

Sullivan suggested that New Jersey will be a “top three film destination” as soon as the production studios are up-and-a-Lager. While Lionsgate and Netflix have expected the completion data in 2027 and 2028 respectively, 1888 studios anticipates full operation by 2026.
The recent work of New Jersey to stimulate the film industry comes in the midst of the efforts of the Trump administration to keep film production in America. President Donald Trump announced a plan at the beginning of May to impose a 100% rate on foreign -produced films.
