Imagine that you come out your worst nightmare. You see your child dying right in front of your eyes. You see him lean and weak. Sobking, crying his heart, getting away, tortured, starving, shouted for help, and you can’t do anything. Absolutely nothing.
How would you feel? What would you do? How can you sleep?
I can tell you first hand, the feeling is unbearable. It drives you crazy. It drives you crazy. That fierce feeling of helplessness, as witnessed by this horror, unfolds before your eyes, and yet there is nothing you can do.
My son is a hostage. His name is Rom Braslavski. He is 22 years old and while I write these words, he has been trapped for 670 days by the Islamic Jihad in Gaza. Rom is in hell. I am a father in hell.
Liberated American-Israeli hostage broker Details starvation and abuse by Hamas while families Pushen Trump for Deal
This Screengrab of a video released on July 31 by Al-Qudds Brigades, the armed wing of the Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad, shows a hostage, identified as Rom Braslavski by the Highthrighlets and Missing Families forum in October 2023 in October 2023. Israel said on 3 August that the plight situation of hostages in Gaza should surpass the global agenda after Palestinian terrorists had released videos that they seem to be starving, the fears for their lives raise in captivity after almost 22 months. On October 7, 2023, the darkest day in the history of Israel, Rom worked as a guard at the Nova Music Festival. When the terrorists attacked, ROM could have flee to save themselves. Instead, he chose to stay. He continued to treat the wounded, to evacuate the wounded, to protect the terrified and did his best to preserve dignity in one way or another.
Last Thursday, the Islamic Jihad released a horrible propaganda video. What I saw shattered: my son – on the edge of death, visible suffering, crying and begging for his life. I didn’t recognize him. He was so weak, so starved. His voice was weak and his eyes were hollow and empty – as if he were about to give up. I know it is hard to believe, but this was the first time I saw my son ever crying. Really cry.
Four months ago, Islamic Jihad released another video of ROM. He even looked terrible at the time – but at least there was something else in his eyes. A spark of hope. A conviction that he may still get away. That spark has disappeared in these latest harrowing images. His eyes are eliminated. He looks like he is waiting for death. This is not a metaphor. It is a father who sees his child dying in real time.

Rom was always strong – the kind of child that made people safe. Now he is hardly recognizable, a victim of psychological and physical torture. This is not the son I raised. This is a boy who is broken.
Those terrorists who hold my son and claim so many others that they give hostages the same food that their own hunters receive. But in the video you can clearly see that the kidnappers are well fed and they have deliberately starved with my boy. This hunger is intentionally – you can see that.
Mr. President Trump, I turn to you – not as a diplomat or politician, but as a father desperately looking for action.
You know what it means to protect your family. You have shown strength where others hesitate. You spoke about the truth without compromises. You understand that moral clarity is mainly. You know what the evil looks like – and you have never hesitated to call it. I ask you:
Use your strength, your influence and your leadership to demand the immediate release of all 50 hostages that are still being held in Gaza.

This is not just an Israeli tragedy – it is a global conscience test. What Hamas did on October 7 through mass murder, rape and kidnapping was more than fear – it was an attack on civilization itself.
President Trump, my son has no time. Every day that nothing changes is a different day that he may not survive. We don’t have time anymore. We have to eat him and get medical help, and we have to get him out of hell.
We have to get them all out of hell. One deal. No phases. No conditions. No silence.
Don’t let the light go out in Rom forever.
