According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Ford is recalling more than 179,000 vehicles due to a defect in the front seat frame that could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
According to the report, the recall affects 62,255 2024-2026 Ford Bronco SUVs and 117,443 2024-2026 Ford Ranger pickups.
The defect is caused by a pivot bolt in the front seats that can become loose or loose. The administration’s report states that if the latch is knocked out of place, the seat may not properly restrain a passenger, increasing the risk of injury in a crash.
The NHTSA report does not mention any injuries or incidents related to the problem and does not provide additional details on how the defect was identified.

The recall affects commonly used Ford models, meaning thousands of drivers could be behind the wheel of vehicles with a potential safety issue related to passenger restraints in the event of a crash.
According to the NHTSA report, Ford dealers are instructed to inspect and replace hinge joints and bolts free of charge as necessary as a temporary solution.
Owners of affected vehicles will receive letters informing them of the recall by May 11. It is expected that an additional letter will be sent to car owners in July 2026 regarding a more permanent solution.

This recall follows an earlier recall of more than 140,000 Ranger trucks in the U.S. after federal safety regulators warned last week that a wiring problem could increase the risk of fire.
The NHTSA explained in its report that the problem is related to a wiring issue with the sun visor that could be misrouted or wrapped with too much tape.
