In the next two decades, the global demand for electricity is expected to double, grow that we have not seen since the II after the Second World War.
To meet historical projections, we must generate abundant, reliable and affordable energy on a massive scale. But a new generation will not be enough. We must drastically modernize the electric grid infrastructure of the country, the invisible backbone of our entire energy system.
Transforming this aging infrastructure that is built up for more than a century-in a state-of-the art system is crucial if the US wants to maintain its competitive lead on the world stage.
This problem with an electric grid stood in front of and in the middle of the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, where President Donald Trump, members of his cabinet and industrial leaders discussed the most important steps that we have to prioritize throughout the energy industry.
It is difficult to overestimate the urgency: the American economy is only as strong as the grids that are in force.

The energy department strengthened this vision last week and said in a report: “Electricity demand from AI-driven data centers and advanced production increases in a record pace. The size and speed of the expected load growth cannot be met with existing approaches to load addition and grid management.”
Energie -Secretary Chris Wright added a more personal view of the problem and said: “We produce energy for one reason, namely to improve people’s lives. So having a reliable schedule that is as affordable as possible and that can grow so that we can offer industry and more vacancies to our states and communities is simply critical.”
I didn’t agree with that anymore. Stimulating investments in the grid will expand high -tech American production, create jobs and develop a stronger domestic supply chain. For the US to really lead the world in energy, the production -electrification infrastructure here is just as important at home as an increased generation.

Earlier this week, this issue was the front and center on the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit, where President Donald Trump, members of his cabinet and industrial leaders discussed the most important steps that we have to priorize throughout the energy industry.
The grid we have today was not designed for the world we are building. Originally conceived for electricity at the beginning of the 20th century to travel in one direction, the schedule is now confronted with volatile, multidirectional energy losses. The peak demand is higher. Extremely more uncertain again. Sources are more distributed.
Although our systems are strong, the pressure we put on it are different from everything that generations had ever thought earlier.
But this challenge can be a historic moment for enormous progress, not just incremental improvements. That is why we are adding $ 100 million in investments and 700 new jobs for the next two years and expand the capacity at our leading factories of the Grid Solutions in Pennsylvania.

The new roles and the added production volume will help to build more high -voltage switching products, critical components for stable and reliable functioning of the country’s electric griders.
Energy-intensive, subsequent generation of industries such as high-tech production and AI will find themselves where they have access to reliable, efficient electricity. Communities and countries that modernize their rasters will attract investments and jobs, and those who don’t do that will see the opportunities go elsewhere.
The bottom line – if we build a smarter, stronger electric grid, our economy will grow faster, we will create more jobs and American families will save money.

So what can we do? The first step is to recognize the urgency that stimulates daring, persistent investments, because the International Energy Agency estimates that we have to double the investments in 2030 to meet demand.
Second is stronger public-private partnerships. Smart policy of the federal government is crucial, but companies like ours must be willing to make the investments to build the factories and the employees needed.
Third is accelerated if reform allowing. At the moment it takes longer to get approval to build a transmission line than to actually build it up, put access to more electricity online, to delay jobs and stop communities to modernize their energy systems. We have to overload grid -upgrades, not buried in bureaucracy.

Embracing new technologies will also be crucial. Applying AI, advanced software and machine learning to grid management offers utility companies the opportunity to process enormous amounts of data in real time, making better decision -making, optimization of existing infrastructure and smarter load management possible.
When the lights came for the first time, it helped the flow of prosperity. Now this era of electricity will determine whether we can feed a sustainable future for America and bring affordable energy to anyone who needs it.
