The Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy outlined solid circumstances on Saturday for a “real peace” prior to a high-stakes meeting with President Donald Trump on Monday.
After his call with Trump and then with European leaders, Zenskyy placed after his call, after Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin met in Alaska to try to put an end to the 3 ½ year war.
“The positions are clear. A real peace needs to be achieved, one that will permanently, not just a break between Russian invasions,” wrote Zenskyy.

“Murds must stop as quickly as possible, the fire must stop both on the battlefield and in heaven and against our port infrastructure. All Ukrainian prisoners of war and citizens must be released and the children abducted by Russia must be returned.”
Zenskyy wrote that thousands of Ukrainians remain in captivity and all have to be released, while adding that the pressure on Russia must be maintained while the “aggression and occupation continue”.
In a follow -up post, Zenskyy warned of the Russian “betrayal” that could lead to attacks to get leverage in the midst of current negotiations.
“Based on the political and diplomatic situation around Ukraine, and knowing the Russian betrayal, we expect that the Russian army can try to increase the pressure and strikes against Ukrainian positions in the coming days to create more favorable political circumstances for conversations with worldwide actors,” he wrote.

Zenskyy is planned to meet Trump in the White House on Monday, while the three nations try to put an end to the bloodshed.
Trump wrote about Truth Socially after the Putin meeting that he felt a peace agreement instead of a cease -the fire, was ultimately the best way to resolve the war. Trump had called for a cease -Fires prior to his meeting with Putin.
“It was determined by all that the best way to end the horrible war between Russia and Ukraine is to go directly to a peace agreement that would end the war, and not a purely cessation -the fire agreement, which often does not stand up,” Trump wrote.
He said that if Zelenskyy’s meeting goes well, a meeting will be planned with Putin and “potential, millions of people will be saved lives.”
The visit of Zenskyy will mark his first return to the Oval Office since February, when Trump took public him publicly because he was “disrespectful” during a remarkable press conference, which led to the collapse of a US-Ukraine minerals deal.
Although a peace agreement was not decided during the meeting on Friday, Trump described it as a successful meeting with “a lot of progress”. Putin expressed similar sentiments, adding the top was a “constructive atmosphere of mutual respect.”
After his meeting with Putin, Trump also spoke with European leaders, who said they returned Trump’s peace, but stood that Ukraine “IronClad” should have security guarantees to defend his sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The European leaders did not set up whether a peace agreement was preferred over a ceasefiring.
