Amazon announced on Wednesday that it will expand its delivery service on the same day with thousands of perishable foods, marking the newest move from the retail giant to compete with delivery options available via Walmart+ and Instacart.
Shoppers in more than 1,000 towns and villages in the US can now include fresh messages-such as dairy products, products, seafood, frozen food, frozen products and meat-in their delivery assignments on the same day, according to a press release from Amazon.

This includes cities such as Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Columbus, Ohio; and Raleigh, North Carolina.

Prime -members – who pay $ 14.99 per month or $ 139 per year – can use the service for free on orders of more than $ 25 in most cities. According to Amazon, non-Prime Shoppers have access to the service for a fee of $ 12.99, regardless of order size.

The company plans to expand the service to more than 2,300 locations at the end of the year.

“By introducing new messages in our delivery service on the same day, we create a fast and easy experience for customers,” said Doug Herrington, CEO of Worldwide Amazon Stores, in a statement. “They can order milk next to electronics; oranges, apples and potatoes with a mystery novel; and frozen pizza simultaneously as tools for their next home improvement project – and view one cart and let everything be delivered in front of their door within a few hours.”

The service, which builds on the existing supermarket network of Amazon, including Whole Foods Market and Amazon Fresh, marks the newest attempt by the retail giant to compete by Walmart+ and Instacart, Reuters reported.
