The Jeffrey Epstein puzzle contains many pieces that have never been explored. The release of the Epstein files, if it ever comes, will not mark the end of the process. The release of the files should be seen as phase one of what should be a long and comprehensive investigation into one of the longest sex crime rings in US history.
Trump and his party want Jeffrey Epstein and the scandal to disappear quickly. The president’s desire to sweep this under the rug is why Republicans rushed to support legislation forcing the DOJ to release the files.
It is now a crime for any DOJ official to block the release of the filesbut people like Senator Jeff Merkley expect the DOJ will refuse to release anything that would make Trump look bad.
Senator Merkley said on CNN Thursday morning:
I expect the administration will block the release of anything that portrays the Trump administration or Trump himself in a bad light. I don’t trust this government to follow the law. Not at all. There are provisions in this law that provide that you can redact for temporary and very limited protection of an investigation.
But who in the government will actually say: follow this law as written? Additionally, they have to explain what they are editing, but will they really provide detailed explanations? I just think that Trump has spent the last ten months protecting pedophiles, powerful men involved with Epstein.
He defends his own reputation. I’m not saying that he himself belongs to that pedophile group, just that he thought this research or material would somehow damage his reputation.
To get full justice for the victims, the money must be followed, and that’s where Trump could face more problems.
