Donald Trump has promised the American people that he will unveil his 10-year health care plan within two weeks.
Trump’s voluntary deals with pharmaceutical companies highlight how the president believes health care in the United States should function.
The mainstream media headlined that Trump had made a deal to lower the cost of weight loss drugs, but left out a few very important points. The drugs would still cost $149 per month. The $149 price only covers the lowest dose pill form. If you want to use an injectable, it will still be expensive. Suppose someone needs a higher dose, too bad. That will cost more.
The Trump plan relies on giving the American people an extra $149 a month to spend on weight loss medications, taking pill form and requiring the lowest dose.
That’s a lot of small print. The most crucial part is that the deal only involves two manufacturers and is completely voluntary.
Thursday’s announcement about weight loss drugs provided insight into Trump’s mentality that health care should not be a right, and that the quality of care a person receives should be based on the amount of money he or she has.
In other words, Donald Trump wants to take America back to the broken American healthcare system of the days before Obamacare.
The idea that Trump floated on Saturday would be downright deadly for the American people.
