Republicans realize that the American people are largely insulated from the consequences of their government shutdown.
Unless someone works for the government, they haven’t felt much pain from the government shutdown, but that all changes tomorrow when 41.7 million Americans will. are not receiving their SNAP nutrition assistance.
Trump has largely ignored the shutdown until recently.
It looks like the president is panicking.
Trump posted on his social media site:
I just returned from Asia, where I met the leaders of many countries, including China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam and others. It was a great honor to meet them, but especially to see that America is respected again – RESPECTED LIKE NEVER BEFORE! Major trade deals have been made, long-term relationships now exist, and money is flowing into our country because of tariffs and, frankly, the landslide results of the 2024 presidential election.
However, the one question that kept coming up was: how did the Democrats shut down the United States of America, and why did the powerful Republicans let them do it? The fact is that during the return flight I thought a lot about the question: WHY?
Majority Leader John Thune and Speaker of the House Mike Johnson are doing a GREAT job, but the Democrats are deranged lunatics who have lost all sense of WISDOM and REALITY. It is a sick form of the now ‘legendary’ Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS) that only comes from too many losses. They want trillions of dollars taken from our health care system and given to undeserving others – people who have entered our country illegally, many from prisons and mental institutions.
This will hurt American citizens, and Republicans will not let this happen. Now is the time for Republicans to play their “TRUMP CARD” and go for what is called the Nuclear Option – Out with the Filibuster, and out with it, NOW! Just recently, while in power, Democrats fought for three years to get this done, but failed to get it done because of Senators Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona.
Never before have Democrats fought so hard to do anything because they knew the enormous power ending the Filibuster would give them. They want to substantially expand the Supreme Court of the United States (PACK!), make states of Washington, DC and Puerto Rico (which automatically gives four seats in the Senate, many seats in the House of Representatives and at least eight electoral votes!) and many other very destructive things.
