In his Oct. 13 speech to the Israeli Knesset in Jerusalem, President Donald Trump upset Israeli leftists when he called on Israel’s largely ceremonial President Isaac Herzog to use his only real power — the power of pardon — and pardon Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Netanyahu has been on trial for more than five years on absurd charges related to cigars and champagne he received from old friends 20 years ago.
These charges fell apart in the early months of the trial as one prosecution witness after another exposed the hollowness of Israel’s Netanyahu-hating prosecutors’ charges against the country’s longest-serving and most successful leader. Yet the Netanyahu-hating judge presiding over the trial is now demanding that Netanyahu appear in court to testify three days a week, a total of 24 hours a week.

Leftists in Israel dominate the media and the country’s legal fraternity, just as they do in America. And they were outraged that President Trump dared to interfere in Israel’s “internal affairs.” One host called Trump’s call for a pardon “disgusting and abhorrent.”
But the truth is that by asking Israel’s left-wing president to end the Israeli Deep State’s attack on Netanyahu, Trump was defending America’s national interests.

This is true for two reasons.
First, the corrupt legal authorities involved in the process are abusing their power over Netanyahu in a way that undermines American interests.
On Wednesday, just two days after President Trump delivered his speech, Netanyahu was back in the courtroom in Tel Aviv. He had asked the judges to postpone his testimony so that he could hold certain meetings. The judges and prosecutors demanded to know which meetings could possibly justify delaying his testimony. He explained that there was one top secret, and they demanded to know what it was about.
Within hours of the exchange, the story leaked that Netanyahu would have a secret meeting with the president of Indonesia. The leader of the world’s largest Muslim state, President Prabowo Subianto, is said to be making a top-secret trip to Jerusalem in a step toward opening diplomatic relations with Israel. This would be one of the major fruits of Israel’s US-backed victory in its seven-front war against Iran and its axis of terror. But thanks to Israel’s corrupt legal fraternity, the meeting was leaked to their allies in the press, and President Subianto stayed away.
President Trump made clear in his speech that expanding the circle of peace between Israel and the Islamic world is a key US goal. Israel is America’s most powerful ally in the troubled Middle East. Trump considers it a vital American interest that the Arab and Muslim world accept Israel as a permanent entity and an allied state. But for Israel’s politicized Deep State, undermining and humiliating Netanyahu by chaining him to a courtroom and undermining his diplomatic actions is apparently more important.

These radical lawyers must be stopped, not just so that Netanyahu can devote himself fully to serving his country – they must be stopped to enable President Trump to secure US objectives in the Middle East.

The second reason that ending this farce of justice against Netanyahu is in the interests of the United States is that there is a connection between the forces of political warfare and justice in Israel and the US. If you scratch just below the surface, you will undoubtedly discover that the same billionaire agents of anarchy who funded and introduced the unprecedented legal action against both President Trump and Prime Minister Netanyahu were working to undo Israel as a key way to unravel American politics. society. For example, the Tides Foundation funds radical groups, including pro-Hamas protesters in America, and funds groups involved in the protests, riots and political violence in Israel.
Tides is one of several foundations whose actions in the US and Israel are the subject of multiple congressional investigations. One of the investigations focuses on well-documented claims that the multibillion-dollar, multi-year effort to criminalize Netanyahu, which plunged Israel into years of political instability, was partly financed by the Biden administration. That investigation must continue and the US government officials who financed and facilitated the political chaos in Israel must be forced to answer for their actions.

More importantly, the IRS should investigate how American nonprofits, which enjoy millions of dollars worth of American tax exemptions, have abused their status to fund political violence, insurrection and chaos in Israel. In some cases, according to Hamas’s own internal documents, the campaigns of these US-based nonprofits convinced the genocidal terror group that Israel was ripe for destruction on October 7, 2023.

In his historic speech in Jerusalem, President Trump laid out grand plans to build a new Middle East that will connect Israel’s genius and power with the oil wealth of its neighbors and transform the Middle East into an engine of global prosperity under American leadership. Trump would have had a hard time leading this momentous undertaking if the Deep State were still prosecuting him, his top aides and his children.
Netanyahu has miraculously managed to lead Israel to one of the most important military victories in its history. With Trump’s help, Israel destroyed Iran’s terror axis on seven fronts. Netanyahu accomplished this while being forced to spend days on end in a courtroom answering stupid questions from shameless prosecutors before brutal judges.
Imagine what Netanyahu and President Trump could do together if Netanyahu didn’t have to spend 24 hours a week in a courtroom.

President Trump was right when he asked President Herzog to put an end to the madness surrounding the trial of Prime Minister Netanyahu. And he would be right to order the IRS to launch an investigation into the role that American nonprofits have played and continue to play in destabilizing Israel and corrupting its justice system. Israel’s leftists, like their American backers, may not be happy with President Trump for doing this, but generations of Americans, Israelis and peoples in the broader Middle East will be grateful to him.
