At least four people were injured in a car and knife attack outside of a synagogue in Manchester in the United Kingdom on Thursday morning, the authorities said.
Greater Manchester Police said that officers were called around 9.30 am to the Heaton Park Hebrew Congregation Synagogue after a vehicle was driven into pedestrians and a person was stabbed. Armed police declared a major incident and opened the fire minutes later and hit a person who considered the suspect.
The police stated “Plato”, a national code word used by police and emergency services in responding to a “looting terrorist firearms attack” or other large-scale incidents with significant threats for public safety.
Paramedics arrived minutes later on scene and were seen during the treatment of the victims.

“I was shocked by the attack on a synagogue in Crumpsall,” wrote Starmer on X.
The fact that this took place on Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar, makes it all the more terrible. My thoughts are with the loved ones of all those affected, and my thanks go to the emergency services and all the first responds. “
