Where was this version of Chuck Schumer in March?
It is good for the tens of millions of people who are about to see their health insurance premiums shut up that Schumer 2.0 is here now, but he should have been on this point all the time.
At Meet The Press, Schumer was asked if he was a different position on the closure due to democratic pressure and he responded to Trump’s threat that there would be a huge dismissal of government employees if the government was concluded by saying:
We hear from the American people that they need help with health care.
And what about these enormous dismissals, guess? Simple answer from one sentence: they do it anyway. There is no closure. They take all these people. The budget they have proposed says that another 300,000 federal employees must be fired. They fired 80,000 in the Veterans Administration. They try to intimidate the American people and us.
But the bottom line is that if they fire all these people – first the courts brought a lot of them back because what they did was illegal. And secondly there is so much pressure on them not to do it because of the damage it causes them to withdraw. Originally she fired 80,000 from the Veterans Administration; Now it’s 30,000. That is still bad, but it shows you that the heat is on them when they do this. And the American people will not like it at all.
Schumer also said that nothing will be done in the meeting in the meeting on Monday when Trump will pop up and does nothing, but Ravert and Rave.
Senator Schumer said that government financing accounts were traditionally accepted in a dual way. There is no such thing as taking or leaving. If Republicans it is going to be alone, the government’s closure will be on them.
Hakeem Jeffries and Chuck Schumer have done a good job by exerting the pressure on Trump, Johnson and Thune. The Republicans know that they are blamed for a closure.
The suspicion is that Trump will try to use the Monday meeting to make Democrats look unreasonably, but Trump and his party fight a losing struggle.
The notifications for health insurance premium will go out this week. Republicans will be blamed for those increases.
Trump and his party have no cards to play, and Democrats do not buy Trump’s threats and not blustered.
So far, Democrats are playing their hand well. It is a complete reversal of March, and Republicans do not seem to have caught that they have already lost.
