American veterans who collaborate with the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) want to prepare the record directly of what happens on the ground for almost two years in the war.
Jason Murray, Scott Weimer and Brandon Zielinski – all American military veterans – work to ensure that Palestinians in Gaza get the food they need.
“We built a kind of plane during the flight … Don’t even know where we were going to land,” Murray said about the situation.
GHF started his activities in May 2025, more than a year and a half after the war started. While he is confronted with challenges in distributing help in Gaza, Murray said he saw parallels with his military service, who helped him as a GHF volunteer.

When he was in the army, Zielinski said that he had experienced a lot of bilateral training in which he did not always speak the same language as his counterparts. He said that his experience helped through language barriers in his interactions with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), who coordinates with GHF.
All three men spoke about the despair they saw from hungry Palestinians who tried to get food. They also describe that bad actors benefit from the situation – including Hamas agents and gang members who try to harm people who work with GHF, especially Palestinian locals.
He also said that Hamas’s threat is not one that takes GHF staff lightly.

Weimer repeated the sentiment from Murray and said that the GHF staff “absolutely sees Hamas in the background”, but their focus works in the foreground to get help to people in need. He also gave the team of Zielinski to defend the bad actors trying to interfere with the mission of GHF.
“They are amazing because the number of people looking for food and seeking help can sometimes be overwhelming. I have never seen anyone of us who respond exaggerated to what, I think, to everyone, would be a very scary situation,” Weimer said about Zielinski and his team.
He also said that his team is looking for patterns, registers them and then changes to information or materials of intelligence officers who can be used to catch bad actors.
“We will see the line that, okay,” Hey, we’ve seen this person before, he looked very suspicious, “and the next thing you know, this is a man who has a gun on him,” said Zielinski.

When asked what the American people should know about reality on site in Gaza, the volunteers all said it is important to do some research.
“I think that is what I would say that the American people are, you know, these people who are here, these military veterans who have lived a long honorable life, we would never be part of anything [like] What I have seen in the media, “said Weimer.” It’s really sick for me, it’s just that far askew. “

Zielinski emphasized the passion that GHF volunteers have for the work they do. He said that the people with whom he works in the war torn by War strive for what is possible to help citizens in need.
Since it started to work in May, GHF says that it has delivered more than 160 million meals to Palestinians in Nood. The organization did not operate in the smoothest environment. Despite the fact that they are confronted with terrorist threats and international criticism, GHF maintains its call to the international community to participate in its mission – to deliver food to those who need it.
“Everyone wants to help, and everyone sees the reward to do this … We all enjoy doing it,” said Zielinski.
