“Just like every public media organization in the country, we are forced to make difficult choices,” she continued. “Although we have seen good progress from our foundation, including an important subsidy from a large donor to support the ‘newshour’ and ‘kids’ content, we acknowledged that we have to make important changes to our staff and operations.”
It is expected that all areas with PBS will be influenced when federal financing for public broadcasts ends on 1 October.
Although many Trump supporters have praised the move, liberal commentators, legislators and journalists who worked for PBS and NPR were sharply critical.
