Labor secretary Lori Chavez Dederemer discusses the weak job report of Augustus, the impact of rates on the job market and concerns about the use of AI
The Labor Departments Jack report from Augustus Showed that the number of immigrant workers decreased in the past year, while job growth accelerated in the US born employees.
The Bureau or Labor Statistics (BLS) Data for August showed that the number of employees in foreign in foreign-birth employees in the past year-a metric who does not distinguish themselves between legal and illegal immigrants, according to the BLS-Since August, has fallen with 822,000.
During that period, the number of employees in the US born employees has increased by 2.76 million.
The unemployment percentages for both groups of employees have not changed much in the past year. Under employees born abroad, the unemployment rate was 4.4%, an increase of 4.3% a year ago, while the unemployment rate for employees born in the US last year also tapped higher to 4.4% of 4.4%.

“The labor force is likely to shrink, just because the indigenous workers get older,” said Di Martino. “The fact that the border has been closed for several months means that there are far fewer people who enter the labor force.”
“However, that is a good thing in the sense that you do not want the labor force to grow illegal immigration. But it is a fact that it means that the labor supply is much more limited in illegal immigrant-heavy industries, which are construction, delivery services, restaurants and such services, “he said.

Di Martino also noticed reports on the falling number Foreign people In the US in the past year, after a PEW Research Center analysis of Census Bureau data that shrinking the population born abroad with more than a million people, the first decline since the 1960s.
“I think there is a chance that this is exaggerated,” he said. “Why? Because there is clearly no net illegal intake since January that we know from the border data, and there is always an outflow. But I think what this can partially float, actually reduced survey by illegal immigrants to the current population survey.”

“Every year the Census Bureau estimates what the population of the US is – they do not carry out the complete census every year, but they look at births and deaths and immigration and estimate this is what the size of the population will probably be throughout the year,” he said.
“So we weigh the survey based on that estimate, and therefore what happens ultimately, if there is a decrease in immigration, or if the number of immigrants is expected more than the Census Bureau at the start of the year, then that will automatically appear as more American employees are employed,” said Bier. “That is what makes these levels a bit funky because we trust this indirect estimate of the total population.”

“There is no evidence that the work situation has improved for the unemployment rate born in the US in the past year. If you look at the unemployment rate, that is actually what the survey is designed to estimate, the unemployment rate for employees born in the US or indigenous employees has increased,” Bier noted.
