“Gaslighting,” a term often misused, is not just a lie, or even a really big lie. It’s a specific kind of lie, and a good example of this comes in the form of absurd claims that Minnesota’s new state flag does not resemble the flags of Somalia.
The phrase comes from the 1938 play “Gaslight,” in which a devious husband turns off the lights in the house every night, insisting to his wife that she is imagining it, in an attempt to drive her crazy and take her money.
Let’s be clear about one thing about Minnesota’s new state flag: it definitely looks very similar to the national flag of Somalia as well as several Somali regional flags. One reason we know this is the case is that not only did people immediately notice it, but the left-wing media also started to “debunk.”
On the right the new state flag of Minnesota. On the left the Somali national flag. Some say Minnesota’s new flag bears a resemblance to the flag of Somalia, as well as regional flags in the African nation.
Here’s what PBS News had to say in January 2024 when the flag was adopted: “It’s a stretch to say that the final version bears a close resemblance to the Somali national flag, which is solid light blue with a white, five-pointed star right in the middle. The Democratic Party chairman issued a press release calling out a Republican lawmaker for fueling the spread of misinformation on social media.”
TRUMP STRIKES MINNESOTA FRAUD MOVEMENTS, SAYS ‘WE’RE GOING TO RECOGNIZE IT TO THE BOTTOM’
Do you see how this works? In a state with the country’s largest Somali population, Democrats have adopted a new state flag that clearly resembles Somali flags, several of which include almost every detail from color scheme to chevron. But if you find yourself spreading ‘wrong information’.
Are we to honestly believe that during the entire process of picking the flag, no one noticed that it looks remarkably similar to the Somali flag that Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey regularly waves around while dancing on stage?
You can’t walk six blocks in the Twin Cities without seeing Somali flags on murals and in store windows. It’s everywhere.
MINNESOTA’S NEW MEDICAID FRAUD PREVENTION FIX WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE, FORMER FBI AGENT SAYS
The thought that no one saw this obvious connection, that it simply never occurred to anyone except racists looking for trouble, not only strains credulity but puts it through a powerful shredder.

Even if Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, who enjoyed the flag change, and other Democrats admitted it was at least a coincidence, they would almost certainly still lie, but not gaslight.
Instead, these liberals make us look at a Minnesota flag that is demonstrably just like the Somali flags and force us to say, in pure Orwellian style, that we are the crazy ones and 2 + 2 = 5.
VP DEBATE IMAGES OF WALZ RECOMMENDING STATE SUPPORT FOR DAY CARE CAREERS GOES VIRALLY AGAINST FRAUD MOVEMENTS IN MINNESOTA
This is all very similar to the fact that we are not supposed to notice that the massive $9 billion Gopher State fraud scandal is centered around the Somali community. It’s not happening, and if it is, it’s not really $9 billion. And even if it amounts to 9 billion dollars, it is purely a coincidence that Somali immigrants are deeply involved. And you’re a racist for noticing.
Meanwhile, the liberal news media is treating both the fraud and flag stories as some kind of “fruit of the poison tree,” to use a legal term. Because they believe that attention to these issues is rooted racism, covering up the stories, even if they are true, is fueling that perceived racism.

I’m here to tell you that you’re not crazy or racist for noticing the obvious about the Minnesota flag, and that those who tell you that no one noticed this during the draft and selection process are just plain lying.
TRUMP SLAMS WALZ AND NEWSOM AS ‘CURVE GOVERNORS’, SAID THEIR STATES ARE OVERWHELMED OF FRAUD
In the play “Gaslight,” the cheating husband is eventually caught by a detective who realizes that the lights are lower in the house because the would-be thief turns on gas lights in the upstairs apartment while looking for treasure. As usual, money is involved.

And boy, is there a lot of money involved in the Minnesota gaslighting the country is experiencing today? It is not only about the money stolen by Somali fraudsters, but also about the part that is funneled back to the very democratic politicians who enable the bribery and act stupid about the flag.

The American people will not be told to stop believing their lying eyes. Anyone who looks at the flag of Minnesota and the flags of Somalia can clearly see that they are related, and we are done pretending that they are not.
If anything positive can come from this massive scandal, it is that voters will no longer simply look away from fraud because noticing it in a specific group could be racist. And besides, we won’t be under fire for another moment over the Somali state flag of Minnesota.
