Harley-Davidson is recalling nearly 90,000 motorcycles because of a defect that could cause oil to leak and increase the risk of injury, federal regulators said.
The recall affects 88,039 motorcycles, including select 2024–2026 FLTRX and FLHX models, 2025–2026 FXBR and FLFB models and other select motorcycles equipped with an airbox base plate, part number 29000373, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
The problem stems from a breather port that can become clogged, allowing pressure to build up in the crankcase.
If the dipstick is removed while the crankcase is pressurized, oil could spray from the filler hole, posing a risk of injury, the agency said.

Dealers will inspect the vent ports and repair any blockages for free.
The notification letters are expected to be sent to owners by May 11, NHTSA said.

The recall comes after the company announced a separate recall of nearly 17,000 motorcycles last month due to a possible brake failure issue that could increase the risk of an accident.
That recall included certain Harley-Davidson FXLRS, FXLRST, FXBB and FLHC models produced between October 2024 and March 2026.

The problem was first noticed in March after a report of inoperative brakes on a 2025 FXLRST model, the NHTSA said.
