People who suggest that Trump will try to interfere in the midterm elections are completely wrong.
Trump has already tried to interfere in the midterm elections. When Trump signed a voting decision that was laughed out of court, it was an attempt to meddle in the midterm elections.
When Trump tried to get Republicans to hold on to the majority in the House of Representatives the hilarious result of the Democrats likely winning seatshe tried to interfere in the elections.
The election interference is already there. It is not new.
So when Trump went on Dan Bongino’s show and said, “They’re voting illegally. And it’s, you know, amazing that the Republicans aren’t being tougher on it. The Republicans should say, we want to take over, we need to take over the vote. The vote in at least fifteen places. The Republicans should nationalize the vote.”
There is something in Trump’s comments. If Trump could take over and nationalize voting, he would, but he can’t do that without Congress.
What Trump really wants is for Congress to pass the law SAVE Act.
The SAVE Act has passed the House of Representatives once, but some Republicans and Trump are pushing to add it back to government funding bills.
The SAVE Act would require documentation to vote, potentially disenfranchising 21 million Americans. The SAVE Act would ban registration to vote by mail and restrict voting by mail. The bill would unconstitutionally impose federal rules on how elections can be conducted. It would, as Trump wishes, nationalize the elections.
There is one big problem. The SAVE Act is dead on arrival in the Senate.
Keep reading to see how Trump’s plan is already dead.
