I am part of Generation Z-de Groep Zohran Mamdani, a self-written democratic socialist, counts on him to deliver him the mayor of the mayor in New York City. I have seen how links socialism sells to my colleagues: dress it as “compassion”, brand capitalism as “greed” and use Tiktok to be millions of young Americans full of “government, is your savior” soundbites.
But here is the truth: you don’t wake up at night in a socialist America. It happens slowly – voice for voice, race per race – until one day the people who sing ‘liberation’ realize that they have built their own cage. And as soon as socialism retains, it does not return power.
I understand that socialism looks trendy for my colleagues on Tiktok, but it is not an experiment in a laboratory. People build rafts from waste to flee socialist countries for the opportunity to live in freedom here. I think a person who has escaped a socialist country, came to America for a new life and is not disturbed by the contemporary links that embraces Mamdani’s platform. You want.

This did not start with the Mamdani campaign. It started in classrooms where gratitude for America was replaced by feelings. In entertainment that mocked faith, family and free markets. On social media platforms where different dissidence in the shade is linked and socialist talk points trend on Cue.

This is what you will not hear on CNN or MSNBC: My generation is not lost. More and more of us are waking up with the truth – socialism ‘is not leveling the playing field’, it is leveling the entire country in shared misery. We have seen the countries our professors, and we have seen the people who risk everything to escape them. We know that the most rebellious that you can be in 2025 is Unapological Pro-America, Pro Trouw and Pro freedom.

For people like my parents and grandparents who call on their TV screens and see stories and wonder how we got here – I understand your concern. But the fight is not over. There is a growing number of young conservatives that are not interested in seeing the American experiment are dismantled. We are planning to keep the promise of this country alive.
The ‘free’ promises of Zohran Mamdani are too good to be true, warn young conservatives
That is why I keep thinking of something that President Ronald Reagan said – that “freedom has never die out more than one generation.” He was not talking about a distre threat. He warned exactly at the moment – when an election could initiate a change that may never undo future generations.
He also called America a “radiant city on a hill” – a beacon of hope for the world. If socialism can win in New York, that Beacon runs the risk of becoming a warning story – a dimmed light signaling to the world that freedom in America was only a temporary experiment.

And the truth is that we are not only one generation removed to lose it. We may be one election in New York.
If my generation is not acting now, we are the ones who explain our children why the light went out – and why we didn’t fought harder to keep it burning.
