For decades, Washington, DC, has been synonymous with crime, murder and more recent vagrancy, but this week President Donald Trump is taking a page from an old political playbook and looking for finally to clean up the capital of our nation.
“Salus Populi Suprema Lex Est,” wrote Marcus Tullius Cicero more than 2000 years ago. It means roughly: “The safety of the people should be the supreme law”, and the safety of the ancient Roman citizen, at least for a while, was almost undisputed.
Trump wants Americans to feel just as safe as they live or visit the seat of our great democracy.

The immediate response of Democrats to the common sense plan of Trump to combat crime in DC by increasing federal means and approaches was to play deaf, stupid and blind for the plight situation of residents, with reference to statistics that show a recent decrease in an already towering crime interest rate.
Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, Dr.I., perhaps from his whites only Beach Club, went to X to claim that this use of the Home Rule Act was only caused by an attack on a doge team member. He handed out the two Israeli employees of the embassies, who recently killed blood in Koelen, accidentally killed the conference help in a drive-by and the rise of 15-year-old carjackers.
In the meantime, Rep. Eric Swalwell, D-Calif., Free free of his Tiktok film productions, this week various examples of crime in DC with the insane remark: “Trump owns it.” One of these crimes, a murder, took place on Monday, just a few hours after Trump’s anti-crime announcement.
Apart from the heartless joy of the congress member in sniffing the president about the murder of an innocent, his ridiculous attack on Trump at least admits that, yes, crime is a big problem in Washington, DC, one that will finally be tackled.
Nobody likes crime, and nobody is fun to hear that she just imagines for it.
This is another example of Trump’s encouraging common sense, so that he does something bizars, such as taking over the DC police, to the indignation of opponents who have to admit a day later, OK, yes, crime is bad.

Public safety is a lower abdomen and it is also the basis of all other blessings of a good government. This is why Cicero called it supreme. Everyone in DC knows or is a victim or witness of a crime. You cannot show them statistics and pretend that everything is in order.
Opponents of the graphs of crime prevention that say that the crime percentage has fallen by 30 percent this year, but of an amazingly high level that has been ignored for years.
This is like a man who loses the salary of his entire year and plays blackjack. He can probably circling for a few weekends when he won Big, but he still has to call Gambler’s anonymous.
The obvious model for Trump’s anti-crime action in DC is the success of Rudy Giuliani in the nineties in New York City, that violent crime reduced at almost impossible speed.

He has achieved this by embracing new police tactics, such as Comstat Crime Computing, Stop and Frisk and Broken Windows Policing that focuses on smaller quality of life.
And the benefits of this wonderful turnaround were not limited to Gotham. Indeed, other cities throughout America used these innovations to lower national crime.
Trump and his administration have the opportunity to do the same with their DC efforts, by actually punishing youth crime, by trying to put an end to bail through cashless and by cleaning up drug users and homeless people from DC parks, national trends can be established.
A Democrat who more or less has taken over the main road, in the midst of this takeover by Trump is the mayor of DC Muriel BowserWho knows exactly how bad crime is in DC, has set up a childhood humidity this week, and she has shown an open mind to the aim.

Traditionally, the Latin word ‘salus’, in the famous quote from Cicero above, safety, but the word, derived from the goddess Salus, can also mean health, well -being and prosperity, because, as the old people knew, this is all of a piece.

Donald Trump provides a shiny capital where even at 2 o’clock in the morning can run free and the moon on top of the Washington monument can admire in the big heaven of DC, and not only in DC, but in all American cities.
So let the Democrats scream and shout a little more when they have to. Most Americans are hopeful about this step of the president. Nobody likes crime, and nobody is fun to hear that she just imagines for it.

Salus Populi Suprema Lex Est, the primacy of safety is today just as true as when it was devised in the days before Christ, and whether he succeeds or fails, will try to offer Donald Trump that safety.
It should be an attempt that we can all find out and support.
