Does the Trump government try to close a deal with Ghislaine Maxwell to make the Epstein scandal disappear?
House -judiciary Democrats ask a different question. Is the Trump administration busy messing up with witnesses?
Ranking member Raskin and Judiciary Committee Democrats wrote to AG Pam Bondi about Maxwell who was moved to minimal safety:
These actions argue substantial concern that the administration is now trying to mess with a crucial witness, to hide President Trump’s relationship with convicted sex offenders and to persuade Mrs. Maxwell to give false or misleading witness to protect the president.
The transfer also seems to be violating both DOJ and Burau of Prissons (BOP) policy. We write to demand that DOJ and BOP provide all documents and information with regard to deputy attorney-general Blanche’s interview by Mrs Maxwell and the sudden decision to transfer her to a facility with lower safety and greater freedom for prisoners, who was categorically offlimits for sexuals prior to this extraordinary transfer.
…
It is absolutely necessary that the administration is clean with regard to the full scope of Mr. Blanche’s interview by Mrs. Maxwell and the sudden decision to transfer her to a minimum protection prisoner. The committee must have access to all documents and information about these actions to assess whether DOJ officials and the president have abused the means for prosecution and law enforcement to protect the president and mislead the public.
