One of the skills of Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer is that he is good at recruiting candidates. Schumer received his top reckruut, popular former governor Roy Cooper to run for the open chair of the US Senate in North Carolina, And now former senator Sherrod Brown will run his old job in Ohio.
It may not have much convincing for Brown to take a run to return to the Senate after he was one of the Senate Democrats who lost some in 2024.
Polico reported, “Sherrod Brown has decided to go to the Senate in Ohio in 2026, according to two people who are familiar with his thinking, a play for his old job, just a few months after he was defeated last November by the Republican Bernie Moreno.”
Brown, just like former senator Bob Casey in Pennsylvania, had the accident to try to be re -elected, while the top of the Democratic party was in chaos.
Given what Trump and Congress Republicans have been with the American economy in just a few months, there is a very good chance that Brown’s blue and pro-worker message will find a much more welcome reception among Ohio voters.
Donald Trump won Ohio with 12 points about Kamala Harris. Brown only lost his election with three points.
Sherrod Brown will be a strong candidate in Ohio, and his accession to the race means that Republicans have to spend considerable amounts of money to defend another Senate seat from Red State.
Democrats recruit strong candidates, while Republicans warn that the appointment of AG Ken Paxton in Texas would have to spend millions and millions of dollars if their senate candidate should prevent a collapse.
It goes exactly as Democrats wanted on the senate side, but nothing matters unless the American people pop up to vote.
