An Al Jazeera journalist who was killed by an Israeli air raid in the Gaza Strip was the leader of a “terrorist cell” of Hamas, announced the Israel defense forces.
Anas al-Sharif and four of his colleagues-geidified by Al Jazeera as correspondent Mohammed Qreiqeh and camera operators Ibrahim Zaher, Mohammed Noufal and Moamen Aliwa Berierven Sunday in what the Qatari-Based Network called in Gaza-Based Israeli.
“The IDF hit the terrorist Anas Al-Sharif, who presented himself as a journalist for the Al Jazeera network,” the Israeli army said in a statement. “Anas al-Sharif served as the head of a terrorist cell in the Hamas-terrorist organization and was responsible for promoting rocket attacks against Israeli citizens and IDF troops.
The IDF also said that the “previously revealed information information and many documents in the Gaza Strip” that confirmed the military ties of Al-Sharif with Hamas, from which “the Al Jazeera network tried to distinguish itself.”

“Intelligence and documents from Gaza, including schedules, terrorist training lists and salary records, prove that he was a Hamas operatively integrated in Al Jazeera,” the IDF posted on X. “A press badge is not a shield for terrorism.”
Al Jazeera and Al-Sharif have previously rejected statements of his connection with Hamas, according to Reuters.
“Al Jazeera Media Network condemns the targeted murder of his correspondents Anas al-Sharif and Mohammed Qreiqeh in the strongest terms … by the Israeli occupation forces in another flagrant and with pre-made Rade on freedom,” ” said the network.
