Elon Musk escalated tensions in the critical artificial intelligence race on Thursday and claimed his most advanced AI model, Grok 4 Heavy, better than OpenAi’s newly launched GPT-5 two weeks ago.
“But it comes down to: Grok 4 Heavy was smarter 2 weeks ago than GPT5 is now and G4H is already a lot better”, the Tesla and SpaceX CEO posted on X Thursday. “Let that sink.”
Musk placed hours after OpenAi GPT-5 revealed, the long-awaited and most advanced AI model. OpenAi said that GPT-5, available for all 700 million chatgpt users, is an important upgrade of its predecessors and an important step forward in building the possibilities of large language models.

OpenAi CEO Sam Altman described the model as “like a team of promotion experts in your pocket.” Altman also believes that GPT -5 is an important step to achieve artificial general intelligence (AGI).

Musk’s company, Xai, says that Grok 4, the AI Chatbot of the fourth generation, launched on July 9, is the “most intelligent model in the world”, according to the Xai website.
