The Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will convene his high -level security cabinet on Thursday to discuss the deportation of the war against Hamas, including the potential full military occupation of the Gaza Strip.
The prospect comes against the background of the 20th anniversary of the complete withdrawal of Israel of the Enclave, since calling for resettlement – once limited to the political fringes – have entered the mainstream, including within the government, especially in the aftermep year of Hamas’s 7 October.

“Jews from their homes in their own country were a strategic and moral error that led to the rise of an Islamist terrorist regime called Hamas,” he said. “That mistake enabled Hamas to dismiss ruthless missiles and ultimately carry out the massacre of October 7 – including murder, rape, abuse, looting and, of course, the kidnapping of soldiers and civilians.”
Wasserlaf called on the block of 17 Israeli communities, jointly known as Gush Katif, which was founded in Gaza after the six -day war of 1967. In August 2005, the government, as part of the Unilateral withdrawal of Israel, removed around 8,600 Jewish residents of the area.
He said that the application of the Israeli sovereignty “would send a clear message: anyone who stands out loses the ground under his feet. Only in this way can true deterrence can be achieved,” Wasserlaf continued. “We have to create facts on the ground. There should be no similarities with terrorists. The settlement in Gaza must at least be the price that reminds that everyone does not pay terrorism.”
From 1948 to 1967 the Gaza Strip was under the Egyptian occupation. After Israel had imprisoned the territory in the six-day war of 1967, it remained under full Israeli control until 1994, when the administrative responsibility was transferred to the Palestinian authority under the Oslo Accords de Weg for the return of Yasser Arafat from exile in Tunis.

Wasserlaf argued that critics of the withdrawal had long been warned that every concession of land would only encourage terrorists. These warnings, he said, were ignored, but eventually proven correctly by the events that followed.
He acknowledged that renewed settlement in Gaza would probably cause political recoil, both in the interior and abroad. “The countries that support us will stand with us, and those who consistently resist us will stay against us … I remind you that there were countries that encouraged us not to hit Iran, despite his race to nuclear weapons and the explicit purpose of destroying Israel.”

Avivi, founder and chairman of the Israel Defense and Security Forum, said that the approach of Israel of Gaza could eventually depend on American support, especially from President Donald Trump. “If the American president argues for mass relocation and taking control of Gaza to implement his own vision, this would suggest a kind of basic knowledge between the two parties,” Avivi said.
He estimated that the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) currently checks around 75% of Gaza, with earlier decisions largely powered by military considerations. He said, however, that the remaining 25% of the territory involves wider strategic decisions, formed by how Israel and the United States view the future of the area, including the Jewish settlement.

“We now have one mission, and that is to dismantle Hamas,” he said. “We will talk about the next day, the next day. To bring every level of normality back to Gaza, we have to find partners – and I don’t know who those partners would be if we settled in Gaza.”

Amidror, a prominent fellow at the Jewish Institute for the National Security of America, said that in the long term Israel should remain responsible for safety in Gaza, with reference to past errors when control was transferred to the Palestinians after the Oslo suits. He argued that recovery of settlements that mission can make it difficult to make it claim that security should only remain in the hands of the IDF.
Maj. Gene. (RET.) Amos Yadlin, former head of IDF Military Intelligence, repeated that the resettlement of Gaza is not part of the declared war objectives of the Israeli government.

“Israel does not want to rule over them or provide for all their needs. It would change billions and the demographic balance. This idea is pushed by right -wing elements in the government, and even the Prime Minister and his party do not support it,” he said.

She said that her organization is already taking tangible steps to start the process: “We have organized six groups of young families – more than 1,000 families – who are now willing to move to Gaza,” she said.
Although Weiss regretted that the Israeli government did not include Jewish resettlement in its official war objectives, she insisted that in Israel’s democracy public pressure could influence government policy.
“The fundamental truth is that the Gaza area is part of the West -Negev,” she said. “Historically, it was part of the area of the tribe of Yehuda. It is wrong to turn your back on.”
