There is a search to an American journalist who was missing on a Norwegian glacier in Folgefonna National Park during a Solo -Backpacktocht, according to his family.
Alec Luhn, 38, was missing on Monday to the Norwegian authorities when he did not show up before his flight to England to England after a walk on July 31 in Odda, in southwestern Norway, according to his wife, Veronika Silchenko, posted on social media posted on social media that he spent him in contact.
Luhn, an award -winning American climate journalist, was on vacation with his family before he left for the walk and shared his location, according to CBS News.

His family was not worried because he is an experienced outdoor person, according to the outlet. His family expected that he might not have a mobile service, but when he did not come home on Monday evening for his flight home, they called the police.
Silchenko, an Emmy-winning TV journalist, said that her husband sent a photo of his last known location in Odda on Thursday and said, “That was the last time I heard from him.”

“Alec is actually obsessed with the Arctic,” Silchenko told CBS News. “He likes glaciers and snow, and he likes explorers, and he is a climate journalist, so for him it is always that story that they are all shrinking because of climate change, and he does his best to go to the coldest countries.”

Luhn lives with his wife in London, but he is from Wisconsin.
He has reported for various points of sale, including The Guardian, The New York Times, The Atlantic, National Geographic, Scientific American, Time, CBS News Radio and Vice News TV.
Bad weather had forced a search operation with a helicopter to be suspended on Monday evening, the police said.

“The weather began to get really bad around midnight. At that time it was not reasonable to continue the search in the mountains,” Tatjana Knappen from the Western police district told the public broadcaster of Norway NRK.
A volunteer search and rescue team, police, sniffer dogs and drones renewed the search on Tuesday before it was suspended again due to weather conditions.
The Norwegian Red Cross said that search operations were going on all Tuesday. It said that the search teams were locally and were familiar with the site, but called it particularly challenging because of difficult circumstances and demanding weather.
