Aflac said on Friday that bad actors may have stolen the personal data of its American customers after the insurance provider was the last hit in a continuous hacking that focused on industry.
“Although the research in the early stages remains, in the spirit of transparency and care for our customers, we share that our provisional findings indicate that the non -authorized social engineering party used tactics to gain access to our network,” said Aflac, one of the largest suppliers of additional health insurance, in a statement.
Although it has already started revising potentially affected files, AfBAC said that it could not determine that the total number of affected people until the assessment is completed. The company has not specified a time frame before when that can happen.

However, the stolen files can contain claim information, health information, SOFI numbers and other personal information with regard to customers, beneficiaries, employees, agents and other persons in the American company, the company said.
The company initially identified suspicious activities on its network on 12 June and then started “our cyber incidentrespon protocols and stopped the burglary within a few hours.”

Aflac said that the attack was carried out by an “advanced” cyber crime group as part of a “cyber crime campaign against the insurance sector”. It also said that this was not the only insurance company that experienced such an attack.
The insurance companies of Philadelphia and Erie Insurance were hit by attacks earlier this month, which caused widespread disturbances of their IT systems.

The company is still operational and its systems were not influenced by ransomware, according to AFFAC. The company said it is still common, such as the insurance policy and the revision of claims. In the meantime, while the assessment is underway, the company said that every person who makes contact with our special call center free credit monitoring and identity theft protection and medical shield for 24 months.
