The national AAA price for regular gas rose more than nine cents in one day, from $4.30 on Thursday to $4.392 on Friday.
The current figure is a whopping $0.333 higher than the average price of $4,059 a week ago, according to AAA. The year-ago average for regular gas was just $3,187.
However, AAA’s highest recorded national average regular gas price was $5,016 on June 14, 2022, during President Joe Biden’s term in the White House.
