With less than two months to go before the 2026 World Cup kickoff, Democratic leaders in New Jersey and New York are trying to figure out how to get fans to MetLife Stadium. The results would be hilarious if they didn’t reveal such total incompetence.
Gov. New Jersey’s Mikie Sherrill has astonishingly announced that a train ride to the eight games at the Meadowlands facility, which normally costs $12.90, will cost $150 for football fans. That has led to FIFA, football’s global governing body, drawing a red card.
FIFA claims that the original agreement stated that the venues hosting the games would pay for transportation, but Sherill claims that the agreement was made by the previous, also Democratic government in Trenton, and for some reason it does not apply now.

The bottom line is that the Democrats, who have all but hegemonic control of the New York City metro area, have had years to figure out transportation for the World Cup and have done nothing.
NJ TRANSIT CEO EXPLAINS INCREASE IN WORLD CUP FEE AS NJ GOV AGAIN REQUESTS FIFA TO PAY FOR $150 TRAIN TICKETS
There is no excuse for this, from a logistics point of view. We’re not talking about the D-Day landing here. It’s a few football matches. This should not confuse state leaders.
Gotham’s communist mayor, Zohran “Madman” Mamdani, took out ads last year promising cheap World Cup tickets for working-class New Yorkers. Now the Democrats in charge can’t even get fans into the stadium.
There’s no point. MetLife Stadium hosts nearly 20 NFL games per year. It hosted the Super Bowl and Taylor Swift did a three-night performance there that brought in 217,000 Swifties. How many people do we expect for Ghana versus Uruguay, or whatever?
DEMS RUNNING ON AFFORDABILITY NOW FACED AS COSTS RISE IN NY, VIRGINIA
We see it everywhere in the country, wherever Democrats are in charge.
Take Maryland, where the reconstruction of the Francis Scott Key Bridge, destroyed by a ship two years ago, was originally planned to cost $2 billion and open in 2028, but is now estimated to cost $5 billion and won’t carry a car until 2030.

Similarly, in California, billions are being spent by Governor Gavin Newsom on high-speed rail, animal shelter overpasses and the fight against homelessness, but there is no train, the Nature Bridge is unfinished and homelessness has never been worse in the Golden State.
DHS SUTDOWN PUT AMERICANS AT RISK TO PREP FOR GLOBAL SECURITY ‘SIGNIFICANTLY BEHIND’: SEN FETTERMAN
When I first moved to West Virginia from Brooklyn, a major local bridge was under construction. It was a real inconvenience. One day I heard on my car radio that the bridge would be completed a week earlier and within budget.
Puzzled, I called a friend who was a New York City Councilman at the time and said, “Hey Joe, there’s bridge construction here, they say it’ll be done early and on budget. Do you know what that means?”
To which Joe replied, “No, I’ve never heard those words before.” We were joking, but barely.

It really feels like the Democrats in our urban areas are just throwing money around at things like feasibility studies, tending to say whatever it is, it’s not feasible, but ultimately with more money for additional studies.
But through some magical administrative wizardry, officials in our rural areas are actually able to fix things.
The amount of total incompetence that urban voters accept from Democrats is truly bizarre. Just look at the widespread fraud in Minnesota’s Somali Quality Learning Centers, or California’s fraud-ridden hospices, where almost every patient miraculously recovers.
DEMOCRAT STRATEGIST WARNS MAMDANI’S BALLOONING NYC BUDGET PLAN GIVES REPUBLICANS A READY MESSAGE
And now, in New York and New Jersey, Democratic leaders are treating the simple and normal task of getting fans across the East River like Moses parts the Red Sea, when this is something very simple that city officials could have easily accomplished a century ago.

None of this transit nonsense took place when Giants Stadium hosted the 1994 World Cup.
Say what you want about the antiquated Democratic Party machines that ruled places like New York and Philly in the past. They were corrupt as everyone came out, but they could also get things done. For example, none of this transit nonsense happened when Giants Stadium hosted the World Cup in 1994.

The sad state of affairs across our great country, from blue city to blue city, is that the only thing Democrats seem capable of doing is spending money, often your money, to control our urban decline.
Maybe one day the citizens of our cities will give the Republicans a chance, if the Republicans even try. But until then, good luck playing football.
