The Supreme Court ruled in a 6-3 decision earlier this week that California teachers cannot hide from parents the fact that their child identifies as transgender at school, as the broader case works its way through the courts. But the real question is: what on earth were the three dissenting liberals thinking?
To be fair, our justices from the left, Elena Kagan, Sonya Sotomayor, and Katanji Brown-Jackson, have not made a definitive ruling in the case. But the idea that parents should remain in the dark while it plays out is simply abhorrent.

The majority decided, in as obvious a statement as possible, that parents have “primary authority regarding ‘the upbringing and education of children,'” including “the right not to be excluded from participation in decisions regarding the mental health of their children.”
As every parent knows, their permission is needed at school for everything from field trips to special holiday meals, but apparently the deviant trio believes there is an argument to be made for not telling parents that their child has changed gender. Abject madness.
Even worse, if you think about it, instead of talking to their parents about this legitimate mental health challenge, children should trust other adults more to make decisions about their gender and sexuality is an incredibly dangerous idea.
Most parents, if they discovered that another adult was secretly encouraging their son to wear dresses, would immediately call the police, as they should.
What brought the deluded liberals on trial here is the most fundamental misunderstanding, or outright lie, if you will, underlying the case that people can be born in the wrong body or change sex.

Once the judges crack open Pandora’s box, it opens the door to arguments that parents are somehow violating the rights of their own children by refusing to accept their claim as transgender. Parents across the country have lost access to their children because they refused to feed the trans deception.

Take the case of Jeanette Cooper of Chicago, who lost custody of her 12-year-old daughter after she went to her father’s house claiming she was a boy. Even after confirming her child’s pronouns, Cooper still lost custody under the same laws that protect children from abuse.

Apparently, the Supreme Court’s liberals and progressives generally believe that parents who do not simply and blindly accept that their child has changed sex must keep it hidden from them, and perhaps even lose them if they refuse to admit it.
Is it possible that there are a handful of parents who actually abuse their children because they are transgender? That’s true, but first of all, abuse is already illegal, and more importantly, we can’t ignore the fundamental rights of all parents because of a few so-called bad apples.
All of this is rooted in the creepy progressive idea that your children belong to society, not you, that it is the state, not parents, who bear the ultimate responsibility for the child’s development and well-being.
Maine mother asks Supreme Court to intervene after school allegedly concealed child’s gender transition
If there is abuse or neglect, the state can and should intervene, but this should be the extreme exception, never the rule, and it should not apply at all in terms of gender identity.
Together with the recent decision by Langone Medical Center and other major hospitals to halt children’s medical transitions, this 6-3 court decision, and the likely final decision along those lines, are powerful steps back toward common sense.

The conservatives on the court should be commended for this common sense decision, but until all of our institutions reject the idea that gender is fluid or non-binary, we will continue to keep children confused about their gender.

It is not enough to force teachers to disclose to parents if a child believes they are transgender; they should also be forced not to preach this fairy tale of gender identity in our schools at all.
With this ruling by the Supreme Court, that goal is finally within reach.
