The worst-kept secret in American politics is that Marco Rubio really wants to be president, but he doesn’t have the skills of a potentially adequate president.
Rubio first tried to beat Trump in 2016, and when that didn’t work, to say the least, then-Sen. Rubio began his gradual transformation into a super-Trump lapdog, culminating in his election as Trump’s Secretary of State.
Sarah Jones tears apart Trump’s lies about the Iran war:
As Secretary of State, Rubio has not been at the level many of his former Senate colleagues had hoped. In fact, Rubio’s worst and most inadequate qualities are being exposed by Trump, seemingly giving him every new task that arises in government.
Rubio has tried to come up with a convincing explanation for why Trump has a war of choice with Iran now.
First, Rubio angrily tried to clean up Monday’s mess that he caused by saying, “Yesterday you told us that Israel was going to attack Iran and that’s why we had to get involved today. The president said, no, Iran would get, yes, your statement is false. So that’s not him, I was asked very specifically, were you there yesterday?”
The reporter replied, “Yes, I asked the question.”
Rubio then left:
No. Were you the one who, because someone asked me a question, said, did we go in because of Israel? And I said, you asked me that, are you coming out of the follow-up? And I said, no, I told you this had to be done. Anyway, the president made a decision and the decision he made was that Iran should not hide behind its ballistic missile program. That Iran should not hide behind its ability to carry out these attacks. That decision had been made. The president systematically made a decision to systematically destroy this terrorist capability that they had, and we carried it out. I was very clear in that answer. This was a question of timing as to why this had to be done as a joint operation, not a question of intent.
Once the president decided that the negotiations weren’t going to work, that they were playing us in the negotiations, and that this was an untenable threat, the decision was made to attack them. That’s what I said yesterday, and you guys have to play it. If you are going to play these statements, you have to play the entire statement and not cut it to get to a story that you want to do.

Rubio had a lot more to do with his meltdown.
