Leftists in the US are seriously confused. As Iranians around the world celebrate the death of the criminal Ayatollah Khamanei, who ruled their country with an iron fist, liberals in the US condemn President Donald Trump’s war to liberate the Persian nation.
Opposition to the joint US-Israel attack on Iran has been broad and swift, driven in part by the Trump Derangement Syndrome – if he is behind it, they are firmly against it – and also tinged with anti-Semitism.
The smoke from the bombings in Iran had not cleared before Democrats began voicing their objections, with Democratic Senator Chris Murphy of Connecticut, for example, calling it “dangerously illegal and a mistake of staggering proportions” and denouncing the president as a “so-called dictator.” Murphy has also called Israel’s policies in Gaza and the West Bank “immoral,” and recently announced that he would not support additional military aid to Israel.
Anti-Israel Democrats in the House of Representatives were particularly strident, with “Squad” member Rashida Tlaib of Michigan writing, “It is clear that Israel’s genocidal government does not care about children and human lives, including our own loved ones in the military.” She also wrote: “Israel’s government is addicted to bombing hospitals, schools and refugee camps, all of which are war crimes.”
Democrats have been retreating from their traditional support for Israel for some time, especially since the far left took control of their party. Axios reported in December that the DNC’s still-secret “autopsy” on why Vice President Kamala Harris was defeated by Trump in 2024 concluded that the former vice president “lost significant support over the Biden administration’s approach to the war in Gaza…”
For decades, Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East.
That is, in sifting through the ashes of the 2024 election for clues as to why an obscure candidate who admitted to not thinking of anything she would do differently from the wildly unpopular Joe Biden went up in flames, Democratic officials determined it was Israel’s fault! Democrats are learning quickly – their support for the Jewish state is rapidly declining.
It’s not just Democrats who are piling on. There was also criticism from far-right conspiracy theorists.
FROM MISSILES TO MINERALS: THE STRATEGIC MEANING BEHIND THE IRAN ATTACK
We also heard criticism from the utterly worthless and anti-Israel UN, with Secretary General António Guterres condemning the US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran and demanding immediate negotiations “to bring the region and our world back from the brink.”

Guterres has overseen a UN with “a blatant anti-Israel bias, which has made biased and one-sided efforts to isolate and delegitimize the Jewish state,” reports the pro-Jewish group AIPAC. A bias that AIPAC can document and which, astonishingly, “has escalated dramatically since the October 7 Hamas attack.”
The spineless European leaders stood on the sidelines and initially distanced themselves from the American-Israeli initiative. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer initially refused to allow the US to use its air bases, forcing American fighter jets to fly more than 20 hours to carry out their mission. Then he gave in and was ridiculed from all sides.
US TO USE BRITISH BASES FOR LIMITED ATTACKS ON Iranian MISSILE CAPABILITIES
Of course, stupid students also joined in, with Columbia University’s best-known anti-Israel group, responsible for last year’s “encampment” built to protest the Gaza conflict, posting “Death to America” in Persian after the US and Israel killed The supreme leader of Iran Ali Khamenei. That prompted Sen. Tex Cruz, R-Texas, to demand that foreign students who send such anti-American messages be “immediately deported.” He’s right.
A student protester told an interviewer that the US “should align itself with the Iranian regime instead of Israel because Iran “is not fascist.”
Zohran Mamdani, the newly installed Muslim mayor of New York, strongly condemned President Trump’s war with Iran, saying: “Today’s military attacks on Iran – carried out by the United States and Israel – mark a catastrophic escalation in an illegal war of aggression.” He also said, “Additionally, I want to speak directly to Iranian New Yorkers: You are part of the fabric of this city – you are our neighbors, small business owners, students, artists, workers and community leaders.” The mayor assured them, “You will be safe here.”
Mamdani misread the audience, assuming that Iranians living in the US would react the same way he did to the attack on the mullahs. Instead, joyful Iranians gathered in Times Square to celebrate the end of one of the most hated and cruel regimes in history.
IRANIAN-AMERICAN DEMOCRAT ‘INCREDIBLY DISAPPOINTED’ WITH PARTY’S RESPONSE TO US-ISRAEL STRIKES
Apparently they felt completely safe, and so they were.
There are certainly valid reasons to fear a military confrontation with Iran. The country houses a huge arsenal of ballistic missiles, it has a well-trained and now vengeful army, and it can disrupt the world’s oil supply through mining in the Strait of Hormuz. Moreover, it is a large country with 90 million inhabitants; Iran’s citizens may hate the mullahs, but they have no weapons with which to take down the theocracy.

But for decades Iran has brought nothing but bloodshed and destruction to Israel, the United States and the Middle East. There can be no peace or progress in the region as long as Iran continues to fund its terrorist organizations and persistently pursue long-range missiles and a nuclear bomb.
Democrats who mourn the scrapping of President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran and protest that the JCPOA prevented the regime from acquiring a nuclear bomb undoubtedly know better. The agreement was seriously flawed, unverifiable and from day one the mullahs prevented UN inspectors from carrying out the agreed certification of the pact.

President Trump has ended the mullahs’ reign of terror and united the region in a way no one could have imagined.
This is a fair goal. Let’s hope that on the other side, a free Iran will become a trusted ally.
