Iran will carry out military exercises in the Strait of Hormuz next week after President Donald Trump announced that a US armada was headed to the region amid escalating tensions with Tehran.
The exercises will be carried out by the naval forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps, Iranian state media reported on Thursday.
The announcement came a day after Trump said a major naval force, led by the USS Abraham Lincoln carrier strike group, was heading toward Iran.
In a statement on Truth Social, the president warned Tehran to quickly return to negotiations over its nuclear program, saying the fleet was prepared to act with “speed and force” if necessary.

“Time is running out, it really is essential! As I said to Iran before: MAKE A DEAL! They didn’t, and there was ‘Operation Midnight Hammer’, a major destruction of Iran,” he wrote. ‘The next attack will be much worse! Don’t let that happen again.’
The US struck Iran’s Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan nuclear power plants used B-2 bombers and Tomahawk missiles in June.
The bombers flew nonstop for 37 hours from Whiteman Air Force Base in Missouri to drop 12 GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrators on Fordow and two on Natanz.

More than twenty cruise missiles were also launched from an American submarine at Isfahan.
Trump is considering military action against Tehran as US troops enter the region amid international scrutiny of the Islamic regime’s crackdown that has killed thousands of anti-government protesters.

Iran warned last week that it would respond “with everything we have” to any new US military attack, accusing Washington and its allies of exploiting the recent unrest to push the region toward a broader war.
“As Iranians grieve their loved ones and rebuild what has been destroyed, another threat looms: the final failure of diplomacy. In contrast to the restraint shown by Iran in June 2025, our mighty armed forces have no qualms about firing back with everything we have if we are attacked again,” the Iranian Foreign Minister said.
