In the video above I talk about why Republicans are doing so much to discredit the No Kings protest. I would appreciate it if you would give him a watch.
Three of the six largest protests in American history took place when Donald Trump was president. Two of the six largest occurred during the less than 10 months of the second Trump administration. The Hands Off protest and the No Kings protest, which attracted five million people, should have bothered the Republicans, but they did not.
Instead, it is the second No Kings protest scheduled for October 18 that has Republicans in turmoil.
Republican leaders, such as Chairman Mike Johnson, have tried to discredit the protest before it happens.
On Wednesday Johnson said:
I encourage you to watch. We’re calling it the Hate America rally that’s going to happen on Saturday. Let’s see who shows up for that. I bet you see pro-Hamas supporters. I bet you see Antifa types. I bet you see the Marxist in full view. The people who will not defend the fundamental truths of this republic.
And that is what we do here every day. And I, we will continue to show up every morning and tell the American people the plain and simple facts, because the facts will win the day. Here the American people are not stupid. They see what’s going on.
Johnson’s video:
Many people are familiar with it The research of Erica Chenoweth, professor of public policy at the Harvard Kennedy School, shows that no regime can withstand a challenge from 3.5% of the population.
This is an interesting finding and a great motivator for people organizing a protest, but what does this mean in real terms?
In real terms, and in terms that Republicans in the House of Representatives understand, a protest of that magnitude would be a potential sign of a wave election.
