‘One fight after the other’ trailer
The trailer for the action thriller of Paul Thomas Anderson “one fight after the other” with Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Penn and Teyana Taylor. Released by Warner Bros. Pictures.
Timing, they say, is everything, and it is not the fault of director Paul Thomas Anderson that his latest film, “one battle after the other“ Opened after the worst two weeks of American left -wing political violence in decades. But it certainly makes it difficult to look at.
Imagine a film about the Second World War in which you have to cheer for Lieve Nazis.
The film is an adjustment of the novel “Vineland from the 1990s“ And it turns out that Thomas Pynchon novels is made in films is a bit like translating James Joyce’s “Ulysses” in Chinese. You can do it, but you miss a lot.

What is missing here is even the least a bit of nuance about the glorious necessity to kill people, including innocent people, to overthrow the weird and paranoid version of the US government of Anderson.
At the top is Bob Ferguson of Leonardo DiCaprio, or Rocketman character, in a stars crossed by Star with Perfidia Beverly Hills, played by Teyana Taylor. If they do not blow up immigration facilities – yes, you read that well – they find time to make a daughter.

Things go south when Perfidia kills an unarmed guard in cold blood during a bank robbery while her partner screams about black power. The murder disrupts their small family and sends Bob and Daughter Willa in Dired while Perfidia runs away, probably to Cuba.
The rest of the film is spent with Sean Penn’s racist and sexually strange army Colonel Steven Lockjaw, who auditions for a secret and elite white supremacist group called The Christmas Adventurers. They probably have a huge political power and spend their time hunting the father and daughter.
Democrats want a return to the worst of the sixties radicalism and violence
It is not clear who this racist group is; It is not even clear whether the United States still exist. The only thing we really know is that, apart from DiCaprio, almost all white men in the movie are super-duper sluren.
Lockjaw and his group racists are just pure angry. There is nothing to exchange them, and they clearly represent the US government or a version of it, because no one ever stops that Lockjaw is doing wild illegal things.
Probably the strangest choice that makes Anderson is to shift the time period of the story. In the original, the protagonists are the sixties radicals and the campaign takes place in 1984. They followed. Not this.
“One Battle” starts with a massive political violence campaign of the group of Perfidia, called French 75, around 2010, with the rest of the film that takes place in the present time. The idea that the federal government is involved in racist fascism in Obama’s first term simply feels absurd.
To make this film logical at all, it must be believed that the United States is today, at the moment, a fascist dictatorship. That is not only a dangerous misconception, but, as we recently discovered, a deadly one.

It is also dangerous to celebrate killers. Another creepy coincidence is that the film was released in the same week exemedic left-left cop Killer Assata Shakur died in Cuba. The Chicago Teachers Union went to X to honor ‘the life and legacy of a revolutionary hunter’. So the people who teach our children, just like Anderson, it seems, think that the killing of agents is in order, as long as it is for the left.
Growing up in Philadelphia, the name Mumia Abu-Jamal, who is in the death cell for killing an agent in the 1980s, was famous because it is around the world on the left, where it is celebrated as a kind of hero.

But in the small Irish bars from Noordoost -Philly to the Italian market, you will often see an old, vague photo of a man in a police hat and light blues. His name was officer Daniel Faulkner, the man Abu-Jamal killed, a man who never became famous outside our hearts.
While I walked to my car after the nearly three -hour indictment of America, I lit a cigarette and I wondered how all these multi -millionaires such as DiCaprio and Anderson can live in themselves if they really believe that America is so rank and terrible as the film.
How can all those actors at the Emmy Awards “F — Ice!” Scream! “As ignorant toddlers reconcile that the same government is what protects their fantastic lifestyle of the rich and celebrities?
Anderson will not commit “brave” acts of murder to correct the supposed errors of our nation. He will only make films that encourage others to do this while he is involved in the fruits of capitalism.
The whole film made me a little angry, but then I remembered that the Trump administration against Antifa – the very real domestic terrorists of today – and maybe this is a nice film for them to watch as soon as they are all in prison.
