Trump ran for president three times because he didn’t want to start or get entangled in foreign wars. The people who voted for him believed that no matter what Trump did, he would not start any new foreign wars.
When Donald Trump proclaimed that his return to the White House meant doing things his way and being accountable to no one, his supporters did not think this would violate his opposition to the US initiating military conflict. But since returning to power, this president has made the threat and use of military force a key part of his presidency.
Trump has threatened military force in Greenland, sunk boats in the Caribbean that the administration claimed were drug boats, launched a bombing campaign that the White House falsely claimed destroyed Iran’s nuclear program, invaded Venezuela to implement regime change, and is is now bombing Iran in an attempt to overthrow the Iranian regime.
If only one thing could be expected from Trump, it would be that the American people do not want another war in the Middle East.
New Reuters/Ipsos polling shows the immediate negative reaction the American people have had to Trump’s bombing of Iran.
