The salvation of an experienced mountain climber was canceled in Kyrgyzstan, almost two weeks after Natasha Nagovitsina, 47, broke her leg, not far from the top of the highest mountain in the country, according to reports.
Nagovitsina, a Russian climber who collected fame four years ago after she refused to leave her husband after he had had a stroke, is stuck at 22,965 feet on Victory Peak since 12 August, according to the Daily mail. Despite her efforts, her husband died.
The top of Victory Peak, in the Tian Shan -berg chain on the border with China, is 24,406 feet. Mount Everest, the world’s highest peak, is 29,032 feet.

The suspension of the rescue mission comes days after an Italian climber named Luca Sinigaglia died as he tried to help Nagovitsina, the Italian newspaper, L’Egse Sarda.
Sinigaglia died of hypothermia on August 15, after he made it where Nagovitsina was stuck and gave her a tent, sleeping bag, food, water and a gas cooker, the Daily Mail reported.
Other attempts to save her both through climbing and twice with a helicopter have failed, including an attempt in a helicopter from the Ministry of Defense that crashed. The crash left four injured, according to the London Times.

The last attempt to save Nagovitsina was left about 3000 feet lower where she is after it was a turn again.
Rescue leader Dmitry Grekov said he didn’t think Nagovitsina could still live, according to the Daily Mail.
“I don’t think because she has been there since August 12 – count how much time has passed,” he said. “It is unrealistic. It is unrealistic to survive at such a height.”

A drone that flew over what she was shelter confirmed that she lived from Tuesday, but there was no sign of life when the drone flew up on Thursday while the temperatures were as low as minus 9 degrees Fahrenheit, The Times reported.
