With all eyes on Alaska for the top of President Donald Trump with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday, the right hand of the Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zenskyy, Andriy Yermak, but not always for the right reasons.
As head of the President of Ukraine’s office, he will probably be on the Zenskyy side as soon as Trump calls after his meeting with Putin.
His influence is only considered second as Zolenskyy, and he is even accused of making personnel movements where even Zenskyy is not fully aware.

The senior official said that Yermak has his own agenda and develops strategy for Zenskyy. He is a key figure in terms of staff and determines who makes important decisions in the presidential office.

“He is a non -chosen official who contains an enormous power in Ukraine,” said the former Biden officer.
Following this sentiment, a senior senate-republican employee said that Yermak is political tone deaf about Washington, DC, politics and often requests on Capitol Hill without an agenda or concrete on behalf of the needs of Ukraine.
Just like Zenskyy, the earlier experience of Yermak in Entertainment, as a martial arts film producer and a copyright lawyer. He had no previous experience in the government before he worked with Zenskyy to participate in his historical presidential campaign in 2019.
Zenskyy appointed him as his top adviser about international matters, but even his toughest critics admit that Yermak is someone who gets things done.

Zheleznyak described a dynamic in which Yermak acted as Prime Minister, Minister of Defense, Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Head of Parliament, all at the same time. He is the only one who can speak to any authority for Zenskyy.
Zenskyy eventually returned the course in response to the large protest of opposition, and the Ukrainian parliament subsequently adopted new legislation to restore the independence of the anti-corruption agencies.

He trivialized the recent outpouring of opposition against the relocation of Zenskyy to weaken two important anti-corruption agencies and to appoint a politically supported main prosecutor.
“If people, especially young people, came out of their opinion – that is democracy in action. And they did not protest the president – they wanted to be heard. And the president heard them,” said Yermak’s spokesperson.

Yermak has been a crucial leadership for Ukraine in negotiating with the US and his European allies, in particular in insisting on harder sanctions against Russia. Although his unorthodox approach undoubtedly ranks the sensitivities of the Washington, DC, the foreign policy world and his countrymen in Ukraine, he is still a trusted adviser with important allies.
“He was there. Work literally around the clock, ready to take on each task, no matter how complex. He is a real workaholic, but he also has a sense of humor that even spends him through the most difficult situations,” Sybiha added.
Zenskyy forced to reconsider the anti-corruption law after public recoil
“Yermak is willing to be a top person in diplomacy, but at the same time I do not think he is very effective, especially in the relations between the United States and Ukraine, and he has become a two -person irritating,” Arief said.
He claimed that civil servants on both sides of the Atlantic have no confidence in Yermak.

Zenskyy, Rudolph and others claimed, is better when he accepts the council of other sources.
“Zenskyy has achieved better results when he listens directly to his colleagues on the world stage, such as President Trump and the European leaders, whether it is his willingness to accept an unconditional ceasefire or the background about the undermining of the anti-corruption institutions,” said Rudolph.
