When President Donald Trump asked me to lead the Task Force of the Ministry of Justice to combat anti -Semitism, I replied without hesitation: “Thank you, Mr. President.”
Why such gratitude? This mission is deeply personal. I have been a civil rights lawyer for 35 years. Jewish friends gave me my start as a civil rights lawyer by allowing me to use office space free of accountability when I just got off my feet. I am a child of the sixties that the historic bond between black and Jewish Americans understands. I remember the Jewish activists who shoulder shoulder with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and I honor the memory of Andrew Goodman and Michael Schwerner, killed two young Jewish men in Mississippi in 1964 to defend the rights of Afro -Marikans.
That history shows how deep the black and Jewish struggles have been connected to equality. Getting up against hatred in one form means getting up against hatred in all forms. The fight against anti -Semitism is not only a Jewish issue, but also an American issue. I am proud to be a black man who leads this Task Force.

For four years, the previous administration largely ignored the rise of anti -Semitism throughout the country, so that Jewish Americans were exposed to a growing danger. Trump, on the other hand, has made fighting anti -Semitism a top national priority.
His administration confronts his most visible breeding grounds: American universities. To too many universities, anti -Semitism is not only tolerated, but in some cases encouraged and protected.
The Task Force has identified institutions, including Harvard, Columbia, UCLA and Noordwest, which make anti -Semitic behavior possible. Federal financing freezes the value of billions of dollars, forced these schools to recognize misconduct and to immediately go through reforms. Federal financing is a privilege, not a right. No one would object if the federal government would remember funds from universities that make discrimination of black students possible. The same principle must apply if Jewish students are the target. Jewish students deserve to go to school without fear of intimidation, intimidation or violence.
Trump Admin cracks anti -Semitism as a doj official ‘violent rhetoric’ of radical demonstrators
The fight does not stop at the door of the class. Anti -Semitism flows into the streets of America. An anti-Israeli extremist murdered two young staff members of the Israeli embassy near the Capital Jewish Museum in Washington, DC they were a engaged couple preparing for a life together. Instead of striving for their dreams, they were shot together and I saw that their blood was cleaned from the sidewalk.
In Colorado, a survivor of the Holocaust was set on fire and killed, while others were horrible injuries. In St. Louis, anti -Semitic ranssonists set fire to vehicles of the family and friends of an American citizen who served in the IDF, destroying them and making the area illegible with hateful graffiti who accused him of murder and evoking the death of the IDF.
The Task Force and the entire Ministry of Justice ensure that those responsible for such acts of anti -Semitic violence, fast and uncompromising justice in the legally permitted.
Leo Terrell says that Trump -Admin is willing to combat Harvard anti -Semitism all the way to the Supreme Court
There is also economic anti -Semitism. Jewish institutions and communities throughout the country pay extra for safety if no other community requires. Recently I was honored to deliver the keynote address in the Israel on the National Leadership Summit of Campus Coalition in DC

The students were charged $ 228,169.53 for security, an amount that they had no choice but to pay to remain safe as Jews because the city would not provide it. This so -called “Jewish tax” is an insult to the principle of equal rights. My Task Force will continue to press on DC Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser and other chosen officials throughout the country to take this issue seriously.
To too many universities, anti -Semitism is not only tolerated, but in some cases encouraged and protected.
The time to act is now. Permanent guarantees must be determined before the end of Trump’s period to ensure that Jewish Americans remain protected, regardless of who will keep the White House in the future.

For me this is more than a job. This is a 24/7 mission to honor the civil rights heroes from the past, to defend the victims of today’s hatred and to secure a future where Jewish Americans live free of fear in their own country.
The forces that control anti -Semitism, including Hamas and other terrorist groups, have made it clear that their hatred will not stop with the Jewish people. Their ultimate target is the United States itself and the liberties that we all cherish. Beaving they is not just a moral imperative. The fight is for the safety and survival of every American.
