France reportedly undressed the residence permit of a man who picked a cigarette at a war memorial in Paris after being caught on the camera.
Minister of the Interior Bruno Retailleeau called the actions of a 47-year-old Moroccan man “indecent and pathetic” after his arrest. Video images of him who light a cigarette under the much -visited arc De Triomphe led to indignation after it was spread.
“The man who degraded the grave of the unknown soldier to light by a cigarette with the memorial flame was arrested in Paris for the violation of a funeral location, grave, urn or monument established in the memorial of the dead. On Wednesday, the French Ministry of the Interior announced that the non -geïdentified man was stripped of his residence permit, Politico reported.
The unknown Soldier War Memorial contains a flame and the grave of a soldier killed in the First World War under an arch of the Arc de Triomphe.
The locals are now racing their neighborhood ‘like Disneyland’ as tourism after the Olympic Games

Images of the incident show that a man kneels next to the memorial, which seems to be outdoor borders for visitors. He is seen leaning about the flame that broadcasts from the memorial to light his cigarette before he leaves immediately while the amazed tourists watch.
The man reportedly has the legal status in France and was known to the police, according to local reports.
Patricia Miralles, the vice minister of Memory and Veterans’ Affairs, said she was “indignant” by what happened.

“Walking on the grave of the unknown soldier. Lighting his cigarette with the eternal flame. This is not just a misstep: it is a desecration,” she wrote on X. “France will never tolerate the reminder of the memory of those who died for her. Never.”
