President Donald Trump will leave for Scotland on Friday for a five -day trip where he will check in with his golf resorts in Turnberry and Aberdeen, as well as with British Prime Minister Kier Starmer and head of the Scottish government, Prime Minister John Swinney.

“We are different people, and we have different political backgrounds and tendencies, but we do have a good relationship and that comes from a number of places,” Starmer told BBC Podcast “Political Thinking”. “I think I understand what the president anchores, what he really cares about.”
Apart from geopolitical conversations, Trump is expected to be in a round of golf in one of his jobs when visiting his clubs, as he did in 2018 when he visited the historic golf resort and hotel in Turnberry.

Trump returns to the UK in September for an official state visit, where he will meet King Charles III in Windsor Castle.
The visit is the first time that the UK has invited an American president for a second state visit.
