President Barack Obama’s Philanthropic Foundation hired the departing president of the Ford Foundation on Monday.
Darren Walker, who was already ready to leave the Ford Foundation, will be at the Obama Foundation’s Board of Directors from November. He has been working with the Ford Foundation since 2013.
“Darren Walker is an excellent example of what it means to lead with goal in philanthropy,” Obama said in a statement. “The work of Darren to challenge long -term assumptions, to make it unjust and to build unlikely partnerships, fits perfectly with the mission of the Obama Foundation.”
“His experience and insight will sharpen our thinking and deepen our impact if we help the next generation of leaders to change their world for the better,” he added.

The former president leads the Obama Foundation next to his wife, Michelle Obama. The declared goals are to promote democracy and to promote a ‘spirit of active citizenship’.
“Participating in the board of the Obama Foundation feels like coming home of everything I believe about leadership and change,” Walker said about his new role. “I believe deep in the power of individuals to change the world, and I am honored to work with President and Mrs Obama to help the next generation of changing makers empowering and supporting.”

Valerie Jarrett, the CEO of the Obama Foundation, also praised the hanging arrival of Walker.
“What distinguishes Darren is his deep belief in the proximity – that real progress comes from listening and investing in those closest to the challenge,” Jarrett said in a statement.

“Whether he works with Grassroots organizers or again proposes how worldwide institutions use capital, the leadership of Darren is always based on empathy, integrity and trust. These values are the core of our mission, and we are very happy to have his wisdom and partnership in our team,” she added.
The presidential center of Obama is central to one lawsuit of a subcontractor, who accused an engineering firm of racial discrimination.
The center is planned to open in 2026.
