In the week after the fatal flash flood that hundreds of Texas killed, the conversation about Jeffrey Epstein, responsibility for the government’s response, and General Chaos around Trump.
The only thing that has not been discussed is climate change, but senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) has diverted the conversation to a crisis trumps Trump.
Sen. Sanders said in a statement:
In the midst of everything else that is going on, it is easy to ignore the extraordinary planetary crisis with which we are confronted by climate change. But we just can’t allow ourselves to do that.
The hottest 10 years ever have been registered in the last 10 years. 2024 was the hottest year in the recorded history. January 2025 was the hottest January on record. West -Europa just had its hottest June on record. The recent heat wave in the United States placed nearly 190 million Americans under heat advice and broke heat records at more than 280 locations. The frequency of heat waves in the United States has tripled over the past 60 years. According to a new study from Yale University, 64% of Americans think that global warming influences the weather in the US and says almost half that they have experienced its effects personally.
From May 2024 to May 2025, 4 billion people – half of the world’s population – experienced at least one extra month of extreme heat due to climate change. Climate change worsened hurricane Helene last fall in the American Southeast, floods in Texas last week and last summer in Vermont and Brazil, recent forest fires in Canada and Los Angeles, and health waves in the United States, Europe, India and Pakistan.
And what is President Trump’s answer? He has just dismissed the last remaining employees from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs who work on climate change, which is undoubtedly one of the biggest threats for our national security.
Donald Trump jeopardizes the planet and future generations in the short term of his executive friends of fossil fuels.
Trump gives the fossil fuel industry exactly what they wanted when they wrote all those campaign controls to him as the Republican candidate in the summer of 2024. The downfall of clean energy that was booked under Biden has been erased by Trump and the Republican congresmajorities.
It is not only a political shift, but it is also, as Senator Sanders has noticed, to endanger the planet.
Trump rejects climate change as a hoax, but the poor policy decisions that Trump takes on energy policy has been harming the American people for decades. Trump also increases energy bills for the American people by increasing the energy market and giving people fewer choices.
Bernie Sanders is in his eighties, but he is fighting for the future of the planet.
The crisis gets worse, even if Trump tries to get people to ignore it.
