Syrian authorities have announced that arrests have been made in connection with a fatal suicide bomb attack that claimed the life of at least 25 people in a Greek -Orthodox Church on Sunday.
The Ministry of the Interior reported the arrest of “a number of criminals involved in the attack”, ” The Orthodox times reported.

The announcement came hours after the president of Syria Ahmed al-Sharaa swore that the authorities would work “day and night” to conquer all those who participated and “planned this horrible crime and to bring it to court.”

Although no group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack, the spokesperson for the Syrian Ministry of the Interior presented Noureddine Al-Baba Isis as a likely perpetrator after a preliminary investigation.
“The safety of worship is a red line,” Al-Baba said further, castiging ISIS and what remains of the former government of the Ba’athist dictator Bashar al-Assad as actors trying to be Destabilizing Syria.

The attack “reminds us of the importance of solidarity and unity of the government and the people who are confronted with everything that threatens the safety and stability of our nation,” Sharaa said about the church bombing.

The attack comes in the middle of a time of increased political unrest in the notoriously volatile Midden -East – Less than 24 hours after the US launched air strikes on three of Iran’s best nuclear facilities.
