When a president has a Cabinet filled with loyalists, many of whom previously worked at a cable news network that critics call state television, the administration is likely to struggle to speak to and rally a large and diverse nation like the United States.
Before Trump picked him to lead the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth was a C-level talent at Fox News, who spent his time with other C-level talent on Fox and Friends Weekend.
Hegseth has never had the biography or gravitas to sound like a serious leader who could unite the country for war if necessary.
After his first attempt at an Iran briefing, it was a mess that reflected the contradictory excuses for this administration’s war of choice, Hegseth tried again Wednesday morning.
The Secretary of Defense promised to give America more of the best least popular war in American history.
Hegseth said:
So far, Operation Epic Fury has produced twice as much shock and awe air power as Iraq did in 2003 minus Paul Bremmer and the nation building. The campaign has seven times the intensity of Israel’s previous operations against Iran during the Twelve-Day War. And as President Trump said, the waves are coming.
We’re just getting started. We don’t speed up or slow down. Iran’s capabilities are evaporating by the hour, while American power becomes fiercer, smarter and supremely dominant. Today more bombers and more fighters arrive and now that we have full control of the skies we will use 500 pounds.
And 2,000 pounds of GPS and laser-guided precision gravity bombs, of which we have a virtually unlimited supply.
The Trump administration responded to the American people by saying they don’t want this war by promising more war.

Hegseth also had a reason why the American people are against this war.
It’s all the media’s fault.
