The current Republican House majority is hanging by a thread. Republicans in the House of Representatives are out of votes, and their margin of error became even smaller after Democrats secured an expected victory in a special election for the U.S. House of Representatives in Texas.
No Speaker of the House of Representatives will appear in the media and admit that he is about to lose his majority in the upcoming midterm elections. Johnson remains positive about the midterm elections, while all signs point to a growing potential Democratic breakout.
At a time when the American people are most concerned about health care, inflation, and affordability, Speaker Johnson discussed none of these issues.
Instead, Johnson was asked about Trump’s 2020 election lies and the FBI raid in Fulton County, Georgia.
Kristen Welker of The Press asked Johnson: “Is it healthy for this country’s democracy — for the sitting president — to question the 2020 election five years ago, claims that were deemed false and which he has now lost again?”
Johnson responded: “What’s healthy for our country and our democracy is that everyone is focused on election integrity. You don’t have free and fair elections…”
Welker stopped him and said, “But that’s not election integrity, Mr. Chairman.”
Johnson claimed he did, and Welker countered, “This was asked and answered and litigated and relitigated, the page has been turned. He’s still talking about an election he lost, allegations deemed false, claimed.”
Johnson continued to try and defend Trump but failed.
