Momentum for Kristi Noem’s ouster has been building since ICE shot and killed Renee Good. After the second murder of an American citizen in Minneapolis by DHS agents, Republicans are now breaking with Trump.
The Pressure on Trump to fire DHS Secretary Kristi Noem is escalating. Republicans haven’t gone so far as to call on Noem to resign, but we don’t know what they might tell the administration privately.
The tide has definitely turned for Noem.
House Democrats are building a lot of momentum heading into the midterm elections, and they see an opportunity to do more than that Deny ICE funding.
House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark and Democratic Caucus Chairman Pete Aguilar said in a joint statement:
Tax dollars are being weaponized by the Trump administration to murder American citizens, brutalize communities, and launch violent attacks on law-abiding immigrant families. The country is disgusted by what the Department of Homeland Security has done.
Republicans plan to shut down large parts of the government on Friday so the DHS killing spree in Minnesota can continue across America. That’s immoral.
Dramatic changes are needed at the Department of Homeland Security. Federal agents who violate the law should be criminally prosecuted. The paramilitary tactics must stop. Taxpayer money should be used to make life more affordable for everyday Americans, not to murder them in cold blood.
The violence the Department of Homeland Security has unleashed on the American people must end immediately. Kristi Noem must be fired immediately or we will begin impeachment proceedings in the House of Representatives.
Hakeem Jeffries went beyond the leadership statement and spoke about Noem.
