Trump keeps trying to give himself imaginary awards and put his name on every building. Trump is tearing apart the White House and is, for good reason, obsessed with leaving a legacy.
Donald Trump is failing as president, and not just in our normal polarized, partisan way of defining failure in politics. Trump has sunk to an extraordinary level of comprehensive failure, with a vast majority of the country admitting as much, and more importantly, telling Trump and his party that they see his failure.
In the latest CNN poll, 58% of respondents said the first year of Trump’s second term is a failure.
It is the depth and the way in which they describe the failure that stand out.
Donald Trump has no positive regard for any issue or aspect of the way he does his job as president.
Here are just some of the figures CNN:
A majority of 55% say Trump’s policies have worsened economic conditions in the country, while only 32% say there has been an improvement. Most, 64%, say he has not gone far enough in his efforts to lower the price of everyday goods. Even within the GOP, about half say he should do more, including 42% among Republicans and Republican voters who describe themselves as members of the “Make America Great Again” movement.
Much of the public doubts that Trump is prioritizing their interests. Only 36% now say he has set the right priorities, down from 45% at the start of his term. Only a third of Americans now say they believe Trump cares about people like him, down from 40% last March and the worst rating of his political career.
These numbers are bad, but a deeper look shows that things are much worse.
