The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) has arrested British national Ross David Cutmore for allegedly obtaining firearms and ammunition from Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) to carry out assassinations in Ukraine, according to reports. Although some reports claim that Cutmore was a British Army veteran, his military service remains unclear, as does whether the uniform he wears is from the British Army.

On October 29, the SBU, without revealing his name, announced the arrest of a “former military instructor” who worked for the FSB in Kiev.

The SBU said he arrived in Kiev in early 2024 to serve as a military instructor in charge of training Ukrainian army personnel. A few months later, Cutmore stopped working as an instructor and reportedly offered to work with Russian special services because he was looking for “easy money,” the SBU alleged.
Investigators believe he was approached by FSB agents after posting notices on pro-Russian social media groups, then allegedly recruited in Odesa in September 2024 and paid $6,000 to provide Russia with sensitive information, reports said.
An FSB handler instructed him to gather information on other foreign military instructors and the coordinates of training centers in southern Ukraine.

He is accused of providing Russia with information about the Ukrainian army and preparing for “terrorist attacks,” as stated by the SBU.
